You will be driven to the community of Cachora, starting point for the trek to the first mountain pass. Once across this, you will begin a zig-zagging descent to the second pass at Cocamasama (2100 m) and continue onwards to the first campsite at Playa Rosalina (Puente Pasarela 1750 m).
Today, you will start very early to beat the heat and direct sunlight as the trek takes an upwards direction. The next stopping point is the small village of Santa Rosa (2100 m). From there, the trail continues to Marampata, where you will see incredibly terraced hillsides, most likely used for farming. 2 hours later, you will at the gate of the Choquequirao complex.
There is nothing planned for the morning so you can go out and explore the site by yourself. After a few hours, it's time to start back, ascending towards Playa Rosalina where you will set up camp again.
You will break camp early and climb 19 kilometers to Cachora, where awaiting you is the bus to take you back to Cuzco.
