Calafate, capital of the glaciers - Argentina

Day 1: El Calafate

- Meet & Greet at El Calafate Airport & Transfer to EOLO hotel

- PM Half Day – 25 de Mayo Ranch & Dinner with guide & beverages

5 hours duration – Afternoon & Dinner

Depart for your Patagonian experiences that will occur as you savor a BBQ dinner and witness a sheep shearing show at a local ranch. Enjoy typical Patagonian lamb and the festive atmosphere, not to mention a glimpse into the Argentina’s ranching traditions.

Gather at the antique sheep-shearing shed, from where you will trek along a path to do some bird watching. Afterward, prepare to be impressed and charmed with a demonstration by the ranch’s dogs, who will engage their well-honed herding instincts to muster the flock from the pastures into the shearing shed. Next, nimble and efficient humans will display their own skills with a shearing of the docile sheep.

- Full Day Perito Moreno Glacier

Moreno Glacier is the most important of the 13 glaciers in Los Glaciares National Park and a worldly known attraction for the incredible breaking of the ice. Along your way you will pass by Cerro de los Elefantes and then arrive at the access gate to the National Park. Then you will see Brazo Rico of Lake Argentino on your left and the first forests of lengas, cypresses, guindos, calafates and alerces, and if you are lucky, you may also see some grey fox, guanaco, armadillo, red fox or puma. After Curva de los Suspiros (photograph stop) you will see the glacier for the first time, and contemplate astonished this 70 m. ice wall of a thousand blue tones. You can reach the glacier walking while following the signs on the trails and viewpoints, and you will feel in your skin the unique sensation of the glacier. Nature here offers a unique experience of infinite peace, unpolluted air, and the silence of immensity only interrupted by the movement of the glacier when its immense blocks of ice fall in Canal de los Témpanos in an astounding clamour.

A sweet surprise: chocolates, whisky and millenary ice, crushed right there to make a toast!

- Optional: Minitrekking Experience

The mini-hiking to the Perito Moreno glacier has already become a classic. It is suitable for those who would like to see this famous mass of ice with deep emotion, adventure, and low risk. A boat would carry passengers to the Southwestern coast. The beginning of the hiking is across a little forest of lengas and ñires and then along the border of the lake to the edge of the ice. Finally, the team puts on the crampons for the group and they precise the instructions to walk on ice. Then, the glacier will be at your feet. The group begins their way to discovering and exploring that incredible white extension. Countless cracks, drains, small lagoons and fragmented ice blocks.

- Navigation Patagonico Sea Upsala Glacier & Spegazzini Canal & Perito Moreno with lunch, beverages and Fee Included (Mar Patag)

Boarding at 9:00/8:30 a.m. at the company´s own dock "La Soledad" (Bahía Tranquila, Paraje Punta Bandera). The navigation starts towards the northwest, crossing Punta Avellaneda and Boca del Diablo, the narrowest passage in the lake with almost 800 meters. After two hours of navigation, the series of ice floes, of the most varied colors and shapes, anticipates the proximity of Upsala glacier. If the weather conditions are good, we will observe the Upsala glacier at the distance.

We continue navigating Lago Argentino towards the South, taking the Canal Spegazzini in order to reach the glacier that bears the same name. The navigation allows us to get closer to the glacier, which has front walls between 80 and 135 meters (262 - 443 feet) above lake level. Lunch is served amidst this stunning landscape.

Towards the afternoon, the Crucero Leal will arrive at Puesto de Las Vacas (an extremely quiet bay in the Canal Spegazzini), where its engines will be stopped to let passengers share an amusing walk coordinated by our team of guides. In this stop, it is possible to see stunning panoramic views. Once onboard, we will return through Brazo Norte and get back to the boarding dock La Soledad.
