Today you will take to the streets and walk about the historic center of Bahia, which is much like a time machine that will whisk you back to the first years of the history of Brazil. The tour's departure point is the Farol da Barra (Barra Lighthouse) and from there the sights include the Castro Alves Theater, San Pedro Fortress, and Castro Alves Square. You will end up in Pelourinho, the downtown's most famous plaza and an UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site. There are more than 1000 houses, churches, and old monuments from the 16th century in this district, being the largest Baroque architectural legacy in Latin America.
