Test your strength while enjoying the most privileged sceneries of the Bolivian Andes.
From La Paz we’ll take a private transport, crossing the northern highlands towards the foothills of the Andes mountain range, near Tuni lagoon (2 hours). Upon reaching the starting point of our trek we’ll set of, first through flat lands until the mountain foothills, from where we’ll start ascending. We’ll continue uphill, crossing Condoriri lagoon and then reaching Chiarkhota lagoon on the banks of Condoriri Mountain (3 hours), where we’ll set up camp at 4,650 m/15,246 ft. above sea level.
Overnight in Vallegrande
Today a long and exciting trekking day awaits. After breakfast we’ll start ascending to cross a summit or altitude pass, then briefly go down to a forming valley followed by a second altitude pass, both at 5,000 m/16.400 ft (3 hours). We’ll then continue walking down surrounded by amazing views, following the Pampa Leon canyon and river, until the small lagoon of Liviñosa. The route continues going down to Ancohuma, set in a small and beautiful high valley, where we’ll camp at 3,800 m/12.464 ft above sea level (6-7 hours).
Overnight in Vallegrande
From our campsite in Ancohuma we’ll trek down for half an hour towards Botijlaca (3,550 m/11,640 ft), a small village where one of the Zongo Valley hydroelectric powerplants is located. From there we’ll catch our private transportation to return to La Paz (3 hours).
